Esso Extra

Esso Extra is the loyalty program of Esso chain of gas stations.

You are issued an Esso Extra card. You can link multiple memberships together (designate one account as the master with the ability to redeem points, and others as Joint members). This allows you to pool the points to achieve goals faster.

You can also link your membership to your Esso SpeedPass (a tag that identifies you as customer and recalls your recorded payment information).

In addition to points, there is usually a contest to which you will be entered every time you purchase using your Esso Extra membership.

Earn 1 point for every $1.00 spent at Esso.
Earn 2 points for every $1.00 spent at Esso and 1 point per $1.00 spent elsewhere when paying with RBC Royal Bank Esso Visa.

Redemptions

You can redeem 5,000 points for $30.00 of gas. Based on this, each point is worth $0.006 cents. This is one of the worst paybacks of any loyalty program. This program should not be a major factor in your decision to frequent this vendor.
